<p>Did you know that heart disease is the biggest killer in the western world and it is not declining as the number one way in which to die. Far from it, death from heart related disease is on the increase.</p>
<p>Cardiovascular Disease Statistics for the period January ? December 2006 suggests that 80,000,000 people in the United States alone have one or more forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD).</p>
<p>The results are broken down as follows:</p>
<p><a href='http://www.heart-bypass.com' target='_blank'>high blood pressure</a> &#8211; 73,600,000 people. <br />
<a href='http://www.heart-bypass.com' target='_blank'>coronary heart disease</a> &#8211; 16,800,000 people. <br />
Myocardial infarction (acute heart attack) &#8211; 7,900,000 people. <br />
Angina pectoris (chest pain caused by reduced blood supply to the heart muscle) &#8211; 9,800,000 people. <br />
Stroke &#8211; 6,500,000 people. <br />
Heart Failure ? 5,700,000 people.</p>
<p>Cardiovascular diseases claimed 864,480 lives in 2005 alone which is 35.3 percent of all deaths or 1 of every 2.8 deaths.</p>
<p>Well over 500,000 people undergo <a href='http://www.heart-bypass.com' target='_blank'>heart bypass</a> surgery every year in America alone. The world wide figure is quite staggering.</p>
<p>Since this trend is increasing, you can clearly see that action is needed, but what action should ? or can ? you take?</p>

<p>There are those who would have us believe that if we take an over the counter medication that is made up from a mixture of statin drugs and blood thinning drugs, then our risk of heart related health problems will reduce.</p>
<p>To further confuse the issue, there is a large body of health professionals who claim that the use of statin drugs not only puts us at risk from severe side effects from those drugs, but the use of such drugs has no proven statistical relevance in reducing the death rate from coronary related causes.</p>
<p>It has long been claimed that a low fat, low sodium (salt) diet is heart healthy. The question that this then poses is: why should we find that the increase in heart related disease seems to increase in direct proportion to the increase in popularity to this form of diet?</p>
<p>One thing that all of the experts do seem to agree on, is that we should take some form regular exercise every day, and that we should in general eat less than is currently the average. </p>
<p>They also agree that our diet would be better if it included a regular but varied selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.</p>
<p>They all definitely agree that tobacco smoking is a contributing factor to heart disease.</p>
<p>Beyond this, it would appear that the experts just cannot agree, so it falls upon us to do our best to sift through the reports and try to find a sensible path to tread. </p>

<p>Modern life results in many factors which can cause depression and anxiety in the normal person, life pressures, work, relationships, image and general well being all come into context. Today we are barraged within the media by articles and glossy altered images of beautiful people designed at making us buy products or by into a certain lifestyle manipulated by marketing corporates.</p>
<p>Everyone to some effect are manipulated by advertising in the media, if not we would all buy the same products and look the same. I myself embarked on a diet and fitness programme many years ago and now run my life by this programme with the odd day off for good behavior. A few years ago I decided to take fitness seriously as the benefits included relieving stress and anxiety which at the time was becoming an issue in my personal life. I firstly took up running, at first this was extremely hard going only being able to run for about five minutes at any one time.</p>
<p>I decided the best route to take was to write down my distances and time and log these for reference; a routine then developed in my running and before long I was up to twenty minutes in a session. I then made significant progress in the following months as part of a personal goal objective and quickly made an average of forty minutes running in a session. What I found as a result of this exercise was that I felt so much better in myself, my stress levels reduced and my anxiety dropped considerably.</p>
<p>I also found that running first thing in the morning made me feel good for the rest of the day, it is documented that that early morning runs are the best time to burn fat as you run on an empty stomach and the body uses fat as fuel.</p>
<p>When I run in the morning I find this clears my head for the rest of the day, any bad feelings are gone by the end of the session giving me a positive outlook. I also run in a local royal park which the early mornings holds many beautiful sites such as wild animals and birds sharing the same environment of me virtually undisturbed.</p>
<p>I always ensure that I complete a full stretch exercise before running paying particular attention to the legs and thigh muscles, if you do not stretch then this could result in soreness and could tear important muscles as they have not had the time to get a good blood flow within the muscle groups. I would recommend stretching everyday even on the days when you don?t run as this will prevent fatigue and soreness which is very important. It also very important to refuel the body with good quality carbohydrates in within the hour after the exercise as this will give the body the required nutrients and energy.</p>
<p>I would strongly recommend running as an exercise which benefits the body aswell as the mind.</p>

Almost all Americans have at least one risk factor including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, being obese, or working out too little.</p>
<p>Since the 1990s Americans have continued to pack on the pounds. Therefore more people are getting heart disease and  diabetes. Thousands of Americans between the ages of 25 and 74 participated in the study. The outcome showed that only 10  percent of Americans had low risk scores in all five groupings. These results are extremely valuable because the No. 1  cause of death in the U.S. and many other countries is heart disease.</p>
<p>It seems that this isn&#8217;t just a crisis for Americans. Obesity rates are also rising in many other parts of the world. And  this is  diabetes, high blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI) to rise in the wrong direction.
